TOWN HALL.

Haydn Beck. An immense audience gathered m the lown Hall on Sunday night, when Master Haydn Beck, tlie young Wanganui vioi linist, gave a recital' On the king of ihusi- 1 cal instruments. An attractive programme of vocal and other instrumental items was also submitted. Master Beck's items were Hubay's "Prayer," an "Allegro" of Bach's, a Chopin "Nocturne," and Handel's celebrated "iL'mpcror" hymn. Master Beck excelled himself m the rendition of these items and swayed the vast audience with his brilliant technique and delicate manipulation of the instrument. Indeed, it was difficult to believe that a boy of such tender years could display such mastership over the violin. The promise shown by Master Beck will bear fruit m the future and he should make a name for bimself m the world's nusical circles. The v vocal portion of the programme was tastefully rendered and the accompaniments by Mr S. Kenny were effectively played.
