BOXING.
Hanky v. Godfrey.
The Wellington Boxing Association have certainly to be eoriimended for- their progressiveness, as against that of. the associations m the other centres. The" W.B.A. have been responsible for the meeting of Hock Keys and Tracy, Bob Turner and Tracy, Godfrey and' Gosling, and now it has, brought over Tommy Hanley, the crack feather-weight of Sydney, to try conclusions with Godfrey, who some months back wrested the professional feather-weight championship of the Dominion from Gosling. ' Hanley and Godfrey meet at the Opera House ori the evening of November 25 m a fifteen-round go, and a very willing arid scientific exhibition of the noble art will surely be given. Hanley comes from Sydney with a great reputation. He is as agile ' as a monkey, and the cognoscenti, of the ERarbpr City proclaim him a second Grifio. He arrived m Wellington on Thursday last, and set to training almost immediately. ''o'' " ; Godfrey i has already settled down to steady training. He is m fine fettle and intends- to give a good; account bf himself. Indeed, those who know think Hanley .will have to shift some. Undoubtedly Godfrey is a clever and aggressive boxer, and this fact, m conjunction -with , Hanley's well-known abilities m the hempen arena, all go to emphasise the fact that the, {battle this pair will puton will be worth travelling miles to witness. . The Hanley-Godfrey contest will not be the whole programme. Thanks 'to the courtesy of Superintendent Hugo, Tom McGibbon, an Australian' light-weight, now attached to the Fire Brigade staff, and who has a number of. pugilitic scalps at his belt, will :spar ; six rounds with Wellington's own ' Tim Tracy, and Tim, according to all accounts, will have to look after himself. ' " Another interesting item will be. the wrestling exposition between Messrs A. Skinner and C. E. Stephens. The latter is a pupil of Skinner's, and -is quite a freak m physical development: In a few years he has been transformed from a weed into a splendid specimen of~male humanity. Both belong to the Police Force and the permission of the Commissioner- has been, obtained for the pair to' appear. This should be a truly interesting exhibition. Prices of admission etc., will be found m our advertising columns. The box plan is now on view at Arm it's, (late Batkin's), Lambton Quay. *
