Neither body has accepted responsibility heretofore, ' and there are chronic cases m hospital beds which should be elsewhere, while the other Board has also treated them, although feeling not bound to do so. There are plenty of this unfortunate class m Canterbury, h«t one of the worst was reported lately. A Wc-man was suffering from a peculiarly horrible form of cancer. Her -husband was a very poo* man, unable to provide her with the nursing and aMetod-ance necessary. He managed to get her into the hospital, but the woman was' sent away from there as ■toeing absolutely incurable. So 'his only hope was the Gharitaible (or nlk-s^'d . char-ita-ble) Aid Bdard. .-.
