Last Thursday a little child— whom Dr. Thacker, of Latiirier -Road, had been attending'— showed its youthful wisdom and retired from this weary, woeful world. .On Fri'dayt a friend of the bereaved family Svent for a.certificate of death. -Doc. refused to give it> on : the grounds that the . money owing to him . for attendance • oh the child had .not been \ sent/ After his peremptory refusal the dead child's father went foiv the certificate. Hadn't the money and told the niedicp so.- -Another -refusal,- and the police had to ■■' be' consulted ; eventually. It looked odds on ; ah .inquest being necessary, as .there was 'no , death certificate forthcoming, but eventually the undertaker, with a respect for the bereaved parent's feelings 7 that was quite refreshing^ took it on his own shoulders to lmve .'the little coffin' put in'tb its last resjtipg place. What happened eventually ;aboup the blessed death certificate, whether the ■ doctor made it out before or after receiving the few shillings about, which he was so terribly anxious,, or whether he' never made it put at all, hasn't, transpired.' > ;
