Porter Prattles Prettily.
With regard to the suggestion m last issue that the Australian wrestler. Porter, who sent a challenge to New Zealand, was not known as a champion of the Commonwealth, R. E Porter writes from Christchurch to remark that it caused him ''great merriment." It is real nice of him to say so. This paper dearly < loves to evoke great merriment ; it is so much nicer than making pebple grizzle. Failing this, Porter was ofiered a match m catch-as-catch-can style, best of three falls, for £50 or £100 a side. Porter asked for expenses for himself and. brother, .but this was not agreed, to by the New Zealander, and nothinsc came of the match. f on Wednesday last Porter called at my office with a friend for the purpose of turning up the files of the "Referee" containing Powley 's challenge. Porter and his friend talked the matter over, amd Porter decided to leave for New Zealand at once."
