NIGGER LYNCHING BEES.

A DAY'S WORK 'WAY DOWN SOUTH. Black Fiends who Outrage White Womeu get Short Shrift. The Los Angeles "Daily Times" of August I published the following little list of one day's doings m the hellish feud of whit* against black and black against white m the Southern States of America, where, it would appear, a war of extermination is becoming every year more inevitable ; for America has indeed raised up a Frankenstein monster that she can by no means keep m subjection so long as the fetid nigger allows his brute lust to compel him to attacks upon white females, so long will white men hunt him to death and small blame to them. Here is the list referred to : Atlanta (Georgia), July 31.— Floyd Carmichael, a negro about 22 years old, who was identified by Miss Annie Poole, of Lakewood, a suburb of Atlanta, as the man who assuiited her early to-day, was shot m front of the Poole residence,, m sight of his victim, 'this.- afternoon by a posse which had cajj*urea-:iiim.- After he had been shot there we're Cries of burn him, but county police arriving ai ttiig time prevented such action. About 10 o'clock this morning, while returning from a visit to a neighbor Miss Poole, who is 15 years old, was attacked by the negro and choked until unconscious. When the alarm was given a posse was quickly formed, but it was not until late m the afternoon that the negro was captured and brought into Miss Poole's presence. She identified him, a volley of shots rang out and the negro fell dead. •••'- KENTUCKY JUSTICE . SPEEDY. Mayfield (Ky.), July 31— The hanging of Allan Matthis, the negro who criminally assaulted Miss Ethel McClam last Wednesday night, took place at 8 o'clock to-night m a legal manner m the yard of . the county jail. Fully 10,000 people were on the scene, but only a few hundred could see the execution, although almost the entire fence surrounding the soaffold had been torn down by the enraged citizens while the trial was going on. It was only fifty minutes after the time the jury was sworn m until the negro was pronounced dead. Matthis arrived here at 6.40 to-night : from Louisville m charge of a deputy slier-, iff and company of militia from Hopkinsville. The local military met the train and the negro was marched to the Courthouse. Several attempts' were made to get the negro, and twice he was m the possession of the mob, but the soldiers finally succeeded m forcing their way with their prisoner to the Courthouse, where Matthis's trial was at once begun. There were rumors to-night that another negro, m jail from Hickan county, charged with a similar offence, was to be lynched, but it is understood he was spirited away. MISSOURI POSSES IN PURSUIT. De Soto (Mo.), July 31.— Posses of enraged and excited men are ranging over Jefferson, St. Francis and St. Genevieve counties, m pursuit of Aroh Ransom, a negro accused of having made an attack last evening a>t Valley Mines, Jefferson county, on Mrs Celia Malloy,, Lizzie Moore, aged 20, and Effie Moore, aged 14. WHITES GATHER TO LYNCH. St. Louis (Louisiana), July 31.— A special to the Post-Dispatch from Mound City, 111., says negroes are gathering there, anticipating an attack on the jail by whites to lynch Sam McDonald, who killed Homer Morris during a picnic near Ullin, on Saturday. Threats by whites have caused much excitement and a bloody clash is probable if the latter attempt to mob McDonald. An attempt at lynching was made last night when' officers brought McDonald to the County Jail here. The mob "was foiled by deputies, who placed the negro m a • vehicle and drove into the country until the excitement had cooled down.
