CRAWLING COPMEN.
Whatever deficiency, there may beregarding police protection m othe.: parts of Auckland, Nelson-street has no cause to grumble, apparently. In fact eopmen seem rather to overdo the overseeing of this salubrious thoroughfare, or rather a couple of them do ; but it isn't any great anxiety for the protection of life and limb that causes these two beautiful bobbies to grace Nelson-street with their presence so constantly. No, the, cause is lovely w-omlan Again. Whilst hubby 's away grafting this lady revels m the sunshine of this precious pair of policemen, and one isn't enough for her, apparently. They come at afl hours ; m fact, it is no uncommon sight to see one of them lolling contentedly on the verandah at the mystic hour of midnight, breathing sweet nothings into this amorous lady's dainty lug. One of these days , THE MUCHLY WRONGED HUSBAND, who is reputed to be a hard-working : ohap, will drop to the game and then there will be a rumpus ; that is, unless these capricious eopmen take "Truth's" warning and drop the illicit spooning. If they don't this paper will try the effect of putting their distinguished names, together with that of the faithless wife m these columns, and "Truth" possesses all these. ProbaJbly this warning will be enough. In the meantime any husband with a fiightv wife ud Nel-son-street way might take the tip and keep his peepers peeled for prying policemen trespassing on his premises.
