W.R.U. AND COURTESY TO VISITORS.
The Wellington Rugby Union is noted for its remarkable courtesy and generosity m the way of entertaining visitors. (!) Indeed, it would seem that the officials only need to be told that there is a team of players from other provinces, m town, to assure that they will— religiously shun a chance of meeting them ; perhaps for fear that they, might be expected to buy them a drink. This has become notorious all over the colony and it received another examplification on Sunday last, when two interprovincial teams, those of Christchurch and Taranaki. arrived m Wellington from the South, fresh from their meeting on Saturday last, and were loftily ignored by^ the Wellington Rugby Union, not a member of which turned up to welcome them or to offer them the slightest assistance or courtesy. When Wellington teams travel, they are met and entertained wherever they land, and, bar Auckland, m no place more warmly than m Christchurch ; and yet the travelling team from the City of the Plains spent all Sunday m this town without being; accorded so much as a hand-shake by any official of the Union. The Taranaki la-ds were returning victorious, but for all the W.R.U. cared they miglft have all gone down m the steamer. Verily the Wellington Rugby Union has degenerated from the good old days, and seems sadly to require an infusion 'rf new blood with some real snorting imd fraternal, not to s'pealc of hospitable, quality m it.
