BOOKSHOP ENTERED

BURGLARS START FIRES Not satisfied with stealing money and goods worth about £B, burglars who brake into the shop of Mr Norman Aitken, bookseller, Courtenay place, on Tuesday night, started fires in five different places on the promises. Thirty shillings worth of penny stamps were taken from one drawer, and then burnt on a book-ledge of the opposite side of the shop; another fire was started near dozens of boxes of matches, and a third burnt a big hole in one counter. It was fortunate that the whole shop was not destroyed. Entrance to the shop was gained by taking out a window which faces the backyard of an adjoining fruit shop.
