A Government survey js being made of the potentialities of South Canterbury and North Otago for a supply of electric power. Lakes Te Kapo, Pukaki, anti Chau, and the Waitaki river are being surveyed for a suitable site for a powerhouse, the operations of which would reduce the demands for power made upon Lake Coleridge by the Timaru, Oainaru, and surrounding districts.
