POLICE COURT
YESTERDAY’S OFFENDERS ELDERLY MAN GAOLED. Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., was on the Bench at the sitting of the Police Court yesterday. The charge of stealing about £7 from Johanna Oben, brought against Henry Joseph Wilson, alias Pouran Henare, alias Harry Pouran, a Maori labourer aged 34, was dismissed after the hearing of lengthy evidence. That he was idle and disorderly with insufficient lawful means of support, was admitted by Frederick Wilson, aged 55. The magistrate imposed a sentence of one month’s imprisonment. Leonard Stanley Wilkins, a steward, pleading not guilty to deserting from the s.s. Mataroai was convicted and ordered to forfeit the wages due to him.
