SEARCH BY SCIENTIST Now Zealand is said by a world autnority on lichens (Mr G. E. du Rietz, <n Upsala University, Sweden), to be particularly rich in tills little known group of plants. As an instance of its richness, Mr du Riets discovered between 201 and 300 speoies (many quite new) in the bush at I)ay*B Bar and York Bay, Wellington. Mr du RieU, who has come to New Zealand for the special purpose of studying and collecting the lichens of this country, has now gone to tne South Island to continue his seaggft there. He expects to return to Wtflington in April, and will spend ajtto further time in the North Island before proceeding to Australia.
