TAXIMETERS DEMANDED

ENFORCING A BY-LAW

Per Press Association

AUCKLAND, January 9.

Taxi owners, whose cars are not fitted with meters, have been requested by the City Council to cease plying for hire until meters are installed. The owners have had nine years in which to comply with the by-law. Owing to their repeated representations, however, it was not carried out, but in June last, it was decided to enforce the by-law as from January Ist, 1927.
