Although he spent only 12 hours here, Mr Bruce delivered speeches before the Canadian Club and the Women’s Canadian Club, inspected grain elevators .and informally discussed agricultural problems with members of the Government. In his addresses he stressed the importance of the part agriculture has played in the national greatness of Canada and Australia, but pointed out that “man cannot live by bread alone.” He indicated the responsibilities of nationhood, and outlined ivhat Australia was doing to fulfil its responsibilities, particularly in regard to defence.
Mr Bruce and his party were the guests of honour at a private dinner at Government House this evening, then left immediately for Vancouver.
