ISLAND BAY SURF CLUB
EASTERN QUEEN CARNIVAL. The eastern queen committee commenced its campaign on behalf of the Queen (Miss Doris Lonnie) with a combined innsical and picture entertainment on Thursday evening, and the Quality Theatre was parked to the doors with an appreciative audience. The first part of the programme was devoted to musical items and the following artists ‘■•.nntributod: Pianoforte solo, Miss M.
Lonnie: song. Miss <*?. Stark; recitation. Miss T. Hill; humovous song. Mr D. Stark; douce, Miss M. Wilton; song, M. H. Kemp; Savophone solo. Mr A. Dicker; humorous song. Mr H. B. Wilson. Each item was encored. A tea Cure of the programme was tDo selection of popular songs by the Surf Club Mouth-organ Rand, under Mr Die. ker. This novel'form of entertainment was greatly npprecialed. The full programme was voted one of the finest heard in the bay and rellerD credit on the committee and Mo-ms K. I'ntsonand Hayden Wilton, who arranged the details. During the internal the or-
gani-ing secretary of the campaign (Mr X. A. Ingram! introduced . the Eastern and Western Queens with their znaids-of-honour, and announced that the first competition held by the eastern committee had been won by Mrs D. Andrews. The second part of the programme was the screening of the film *‘A Kiss for Cinderella.“
