MURULLA DISASTER
MANSLAUGHTER TRIAL OPENS By Telegraph.—Presa Assn. —Copyright. (Received December 6. 10.55 p. m.) SYDNEY, December 6. The trial of Ernest . Turner and David Davies, driver and guard respectively of the goods train which caused the Murulla railway disaster, began to-day. Both. men were charged with manslaughter in respect of the death of only one passenger, and both pleaded not guilty. In his opening address, the Crown Prosecutor referred to the estimable character and unblemished record of both the accused mpn, and said all the jury were asked to determine was whether the accused were guilty of negligence in the performance of their duties, and, if so, whether it amounted to criminal negligence.
