CANADIAN SOCCER TOUR

TO PLAY 19 GAMES NO EXTENSION TO AUSTRALIA. At the meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association last night the following cable was rgcpived from the Canadian Football Association : “If party sails or returns via ’Frisco assembling costs increased over 1200 dollars. Prefer sailing and return Vancouver. We suggest you choose either of three proposals. First arrive Auckland June 20th, playing 15 games, leaving Auckland August 2nd. Secondly, arrive Auckland May 23rd, play 19 games. Thirdly, arrive Auckland May 23rd, play 15 games, leave New Zealand for Australia July Btli, play five games under your auspices; sail Sydney for Vancouver July 28th.” In the discussion members were favourable to retaining the whole of the tour in- New Zealand. The cost of the extra fortnight would be about £SOO, and it was thought that this amount would be easily recouped from the extra four or five games I- played. It was decided to refer the second ’ proposal to the finance committee for 1 consideration if financially possible, and if so decided that a cable be sent about the middle of next month accepting the second proposal, the question of the itinerary then to be referred to the competitions committee.
