An Auckland message states that in response to representations by Mr Allen Pell, M.P. for Bay of Islands, the Minister fot Public Works has authorised the expenditure of a further £IOOO on road relief works on the northern gumfields. The Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson. and Lady Alice Fergusson arrived at Auckland from Wellington yesterday, and went into residence at Government House where they will remain until the end of February. On Saturday their Excellencies will attend the Auckland Racing Club's meeting at Ellerslie. Sir Charles Fergusson will vo the guest of honour at the annual dinner of the Officers’ Club next week.
