M.P. CRITICISED
STATEMENT RESENTED GRADER S IMPARTIALITY IMPUGNED. Per Press Association TIMARU, August 28. At a meeting ot the South Canterbury Grain, Seed, and Produce Merchants’ Association, the followin'; resolution was carried unanimously: “This association strongly resents tuS remarss made in the Douse of Representatives by Mr J. Bitchcner, wherein he impugned the Timaru Government grader’s impartiality. It is the opinion of this association that Mr Wills in his position as grader is most thorough in his examination of produce for grading, and, as buyers and sellers, our experience is that he’s thoroughly impartial, and that Mr Bitchener’s remarks will be found to be entirely unjustifiable, especially as tlie New Zealand Grain. Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association fixes the permanent grade standards which operate, not only for the growers’ produce, but also between merchant and merchant.” A copy of the resolution is to be sent to the Minister for Agriculture.
