SPRING COAT-FROCKS

One of the most useful models at this time of tho year and one that is expressed in many charming examples in Paris just now is the coat-dress, says a fashion writer. For a tal( and slender woman there is no more gracious style than the coat-frock. Admittedly it demands a very experienced designer, cutter and fitter, because a coat-dress must be finished as carefully as the best masculine suit. A very charming coat-drcss recently created in the rue de la Paix was made of black Kashmir serge, lined with bottle-green charmcuse, the dress was fastened on tho left hip with a big button made of dark green enamel and encrusted with facets of cut steel. I have seen several similar models in the best Paris maisons, and an important designer recently told me that he considered the coat-dress a certain favourite for tho coming summer. A model, made of diagonal navy serge, had tho skirt set in flat pleats and the front opening over a severely plain linen shirt, the stiff cuffs of the shirt, fastened by diamond links, showing below the long coast sleeves. A black serge coat-dress—lined with candy striped silk—had a row of steel ; buttons running down the Icit side. 1 Another in beige velveteen showed a 1 small collar of beige ermine, while a foam of white organdie frills rippled down the front.
