A NAVAL WEDDING

A naval wedding which attracted unusual interest took place on Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary’s Catli- I edral, Parnell, Auckland, when Miss Rona Eileen Vaile. second daughter of Mr and Mrs H. E. Vaile, of Glade Hall, Epsom, was married to Lieutenant A. J. Baker Cresswell, R.N. (says the “Star.”) The church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion. Over the chancel was erected an arch of white and pink flowers, and each pew was finished with a posy of pink camellias. The bride, who . entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a handsome frock of tissue of silver bodice and billows of tulle, with silver edgings, over an underskirt of silver tissue finished with trails of orange blossem. A long veil of Brussels lace fell from a wreath of orange blossom. It was lined with tulle, edged with silver, and finished with silver roses, and formed a train. The bride carried a sheaf of cyclamen and sweet peas, with maidenhair fern. She was supported by three bridesmaids. Misses Marjorie Vaile and Dolly Vaile, sisters of the bride, and. Miss Nancye Colheck, who were all charmingly gowned in peach pink taffeta with French blue forget-ine-uot in a pattern on the skirts and finished with a large French blue bow. With this they wore pale pink crinoline hats with long streamers edged with posies in the same colours. Little Miss Ethel Mappin, who was similarly attired, acted as train bearer. Lieutenant Campagnac, of H.M.S. Philomel, acted as best man, and Lieutenant-Com-mander Bowen, H.M.S. Philomel, and Lieutenant Boyle, of H.M.S. Diomedq, were groomsmen. After the ceremony a guard of honour was formed outside the church doors, under which the bridal party passed to their car. The reception took place at Glade Hall, where the dining-room was decorated with pale pink camellias. The drawing-room, where the guests were received, was arranged with masses of yellow daffodils. Mrs Vaile wore, to receive her guests, cream lace over beige georgette, with cyclamen sash of velvet and a crinoline hat in cyclamen with ospreys, and carried a cyclamen bouquet to tone. Mrs Cresswell, mother of the bridegroom, was in grape hyacinth blue with hyacinth blue bankok hat and bouquet in tones of the same colour. Miss Vaile was in green georgette and hat of white and green.
