LADIES’ HOCKEY.
DOMINION TOURNEY. Per Pres 9 Association. INVEHCARGILL, August 28. All the teams participating in the New Zealand Ladies 7 Championship Hockey Tournament have arrived with the exception of Wellington. The arrangements for the tournament are well in hand, and everything augurs for successful week. The weather has been fine for a whole week, and the conditions this evening point to a continuance. The North Island v. South Inland match will he played on Thursday afternoon, and the finals of the Mille Memorial Cup, 100 yards hockey players 7 lace will be held on the same day. The teams were tendered an official reception by the Mayor, Mr Andrew Bain, this evening. There has been no difficulty in securing billets for members of the teams. The public responded readily to the appeal, and nil are now housed in various parts of tho town. The selectors for tho North Island team are Miss Rasmussen, Messrs A. W, Soundy and W. Scott; and the South Island selectors arc Messrs R. Surgonor, W. Cmv and J. Martin. INDIAN TEAM BEATS CEYLON Rolling Tnlngmin. COLOMBO, August 27. Tho Indian Army hoc-key team, which is on its wav homo to Calcutta, after touring New Zealand and Australia, defeated an all-Ceylon eleven by 7 goals to 2.
