TO-DAY’S MATCHES Those who saw the last match between TXCA and Marist will not miss their second meeting at the Basin Reserve today. Those who did not see the first game, which produced splendid football, and was full of excitement, should make sure of attending. This game is a semifinal for the Chatham Cup local ties, and as the competition is a knock-out, both teams will fight till the final whistle. Y.M.C.A. (the present holders of the cup) will naturally put every effort into retaining their possession; while Marist. who were in the final in 1924, and are now a very fine combination, confidently expect to_ beat their old, time rivals. This gome is sure to _pro* duce excitement and thrills. On No. i ground Diamonds play Institute in the first round of the Challenge Cup. The former in their last meeting with Hospital put on five goals in the second half, and gave their redoubtable opponents a great fight Institute have rearranged their team with excellent results, and the meeting of these teams should produce some excellent football. Both games commence at 2.45 p.m. sharp. „ If the weather be fine two curtainraisers will be played at 1.30 _p.ni. Institute will meet Seatoun in the fourth A championship, and South Wellington will plav Institute in the fourth B championship. Thwe lads play bright, clean football, ■which is always a treat to watch. ... , , j The game of the season will be placed on the Basin Reserve on July 3rd, when Auckland meet Wellington.
