ELECTION OF OFFICERS In connection with the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute the following officers were elected: President, Mr rl. N. Irvine (Wellington), Misses M. C. Edrned, E. Andrews, Messrs A. J. Hall, A. Murdoch, and J. G. Poison; treasurer, Mr C. Robertson, B.A. (Kelburn). The following remits were carried: “That representations bo made to Ike Minister for Education pointing oat that in the interests of efficiency in the service a more liberal staffing of training colleges is essential.” “That the regulations governing teachers’ bursaries be amended to allow of teachers paiticipating in these bursaries whose salary is over £350.” “That on the staff of each training college there be a senior woman lecturer, whose status shall be commensurate with her increased duties and responsibilities.” “That the Education Department recognise the educational qualifications possessed hy infant teachers holding a higher Frobel certificate.” “That in view of the large number of women teachers, and of the special needs of girls in our schools, the time has come for the appointment of capable women to the inspectorate and to administrative positions in the Education Department.”
