OUTBREAK OF FIRE
ONLY SLIGHT DAMAGE DONE. At 11.18 p.m. on Thursday night the fire brigade received a call to number 38A, Oriental Bay, a twostoried wood and iron eleven-roomed private residence, occupied and owned by Mr Hart Spears. The insurance on the building was £'2600 in the Alliance Insurance office, and the insurance on the contents was £SOO in the same office. The supposed cause of the fire was a defective fireplace The flooring beneath the fireplace on the ground floor wa» slightly damagd by fire and hy cutting away.
