Miss Clarice Hall, who lias been the guest of Airs Nisfcet Smith in New Plymouth, liaa returned to Wellington. Miss Griffith, of Wellington, lias been the guest of Miss Helm, in Riverton, Southland. Miss Una Smith (Poukawa) left Wellington on Friday last for Australia and South Africa. Sir Henry and Lady Braddon arrived in Wellington from Sydney by the Tahiti. Airs Duigan (Wanganui) is the guest of Airs Ostler, Talavera terrace. Airs ana Aliss U. Loudoun, and Miss A. Williams, who have been spending a few days in Wellington, returned to Hawke’s Bay on Wednesday. Airs L. A. Wilson, of Seatoun, who is visiting England, has returned to Harrow from the Isle of Wight, and Wiltshire. IVIr and Airs W. N., Nelson (Woodville) have returned from a visit to Wellington. Air and Airs A. Alaclntyre and Aliss V. Curlett, of Hastings, joined the Rotorua at Wellington for England. Miss Stella Murray was the guest of Dr and Airs Bernard Myers at their Hampshire home on her arrival in London. Aiiss Jessie Allison, Wellington, who v.as the guest of Airs N. M. Orbell, in Timaru, left on Alonday for the north. Mrs Birch Johnston has returned to New Plymouth from Wellington. Mrs F. W. Sutton, of Haweia, is visiting Wellington. Airs Alason and Aliss Klin Mason, of Wanganui, are bn a short trip to Wellington. Air ' and Airs Sydney 'Williams, of Gisborne, who have been visiting Mrs S. Hanlon, MSellington, left recently for their homo via Wanganui and New Plymouth. Aliss Sladden returns to Lower Hutt -to-day from a visit to New Plymouth. Hostesses for Community Club. — Monday, Airs E. G. Pilcher; Tuesday, Miss Ellison; Wednesday, Airs W. D. James ; Thursday, Airs Mahoney; Friday, Mrs E. Muir; Alonday, Wellington South Nursing Division. Private advice has been reoeived at Invercargill, states a Press Association message, of the death, at Sydney, of Aliss Frances Ross, a well-known actress, who for many years was leading lady for Bland Holt. She was a native of Invercargill. Aliss D. Warren, who was in the American Consulate in Wellington when Mr D. F. Wjlber was Consul, and subsequently was transferred to Sydney, was in Wellington yesterday. She is a passenger on the Tahiti, en route for Washington. The Social Circle, of the Early Settlers’ Association held a plain and fancy dress dance for children at their hall in Abel Smith street on Saturday afternoon, which proved a great success. There was a large number of children in fancy costumes, and the judges had a difficult task in selecting the winners, who were as follow: Autumn Leaves (Evelyn Brooks), Spanish Girl (Jean Coker), Hawaiian (Joan Tyke), Cooper’s Seeds (Edie Thirtle), Mexicans (Misses Eunice Smith and Thelma Brooks), Carrots (Ivy Walter), Rose (Miss Brooks), Alilitevy Girl (Hazel Martin), Golliwog (Ben Domb), Pivers’ Perfumes (Claude Jupp), Modern Girl (Bruoe Marris). The ladies of the committee are to he congraulated on their efforts in making the function a success. Items were contributed by Misses Baudinet, Oakes, Burnett, Hazel Martin, Marjorie Newport, Jean Coker, Master Charles Stewart, and Mr Cameron. Miss Mason and Mr Saunders presided at the piano, and Air M. Domb was M.C.
