RIVER CONTROL

POLL MUST STAND. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 19. The secretary of tho Waimakariri River Trust has been advised that the result of Wednesday’s poll must stand. The poll for £200,000 was rejected, 3321 voting for and 2835 against. Failing to obtain a three-fifths majority it was thought there was a possibility of being able to declare the poll carried on a bare majority.
