LAYING THE ODDS
BOOKMAKER FINED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 19. At tho Police Court to-day, Charles Oakley Clarke was fined £SO, with the alternative of three months’ imprisonment, for carrying on business as a bookmaker. He gave a man a valueless cheque in settlement of a double at 33 to 1. It was stated that ClaTke had secured a position in Christchurch and had decided to give up bookmaking.
