MINISTERIAL A Press Association message sttae# that the Alinister for Lands, Hon. A. D. AlcLeod, arrived at Westport yesterday mornjng from Reefton, and went on to Karamea. He returns today and meets deputations this evening. His Honour Mr Justice Herdman left Wellington for Auckland on Saturday. The Salvation Army Band played at the Wellington Hospital yesterdav afternoon, and the collection realised £5 ss. The Rev. C. R. Taylor, who was recently appointed to the charge of Greytown and Featherston churches, commenced his ministrations in that circuit yesterday. Air Robert Bell, of Christchurch, left Wellington by the Maunganui for Australia, South Africa, Great Britain, and the Continent of Europe. He expects to be away from New Zealand for about eighteen months. Mr Charles Barr, who has been in the Argentine for twenty-one years as manager of the Sales Department of Messrs Armour and Co., is visiting h't parents, Air rod Mrs AYilliam Barr, 69 Austin street. A Press Association message from Gisborne reports the death at the age of 83, of Air Andrew Graham. He arr ved in Gisborne at the time of the Hauhau murders, and later established the business of Graham and Co. He was a director of the “Poverty Bay Herald.” He sat in the House of Representatives _as member for the East Coast in 1887-89, and was also chairman of the Cook County Council, member of the Gisborne Borough Council, and first chairman of the Gisborne Harbour Board.
Mr Hector Milne, for many yean hon. official photographer and lantern, ist to the Tararua Tramping Club, wai entertained at a gathering of member! and preseated with a handsome travel, ling bag. In making the presentation the club’s president stated that Mr Milne had rendered the club invaluable services, and hia large collection of interesting slides would prove a lasting memorial of his skill and goo! taste. Air Alilne" was also presented with a gold-mounted pen from hit more intimate associates in the club. The many friends of Mr Charlei Berkeley, the well-known touring manager for J. C. Williamson, will regret to learn that he is indisposed. Mr Berkeley is suffering from a severe cold, and acting under medical advice will not proceed to the South Island in advance of the “Primrose” company. Mr Walter Monk will take up the running on behalf of the company. After a rest in Wellington Mr Berkeley will proceed to Bydney where, it is hoped, he will soon he restored to health.
