POLICE AND SUMMONS CASES NUMEROUS FINES IMPOSED Mr E. Page, S.M., dealt with policy and summons cases in the Magistrate's Court yesterday as follow: — William Ernest Tinkler, - for m breach of his prohibition ordc£, waa convicted and fined £l. Young Wing, charged with possessing an unstamped counter scale, was convicted and fihed £5. Margaret Collin 6, for a breach of her prohibition order, was fined £l. Found on licensed premises after hours, Alexander McKenzie was convicted and fined £2. Hong Clung and Co., charged with allowing food to become polluted, were fined 10s. ArthurH)avid Benge, for selling xfiilk which failed to comply with, the regulations, was oonvicted and fined £5. Joseph William Moors, charged with assisting Joseph Mitchell to procure liquor from licensed premises after hours, was convicted and fined £l. John Tansey, aged 32, who travelled from Lyttelton to Wellington on the Wahine without first paying his fare, was fined £l, and ordered to pay the amount of the fare. William Baxter, charged with carrying bread for sale in an uncovered basket, was fined £3. William Thomas Young, after the hearing of extremely lengthy evidence, was convicted of being the owner of a black retriever dog which attacked Miss Elsie Grix on the afternoon of March loth, and was ordered to pay 13s costs, and 18s witnesses' expenses. YOUTH ADMITTED TO PROBATION Pleading guilty to five charges of theft, involving the total sum of £5 •is 6d, from Ardrey and Company and Footwear. Ltd., a youth, aged 17, appeared before Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., vesterdav morning. v His Worship admitted the youth to probation for a period of three years, and ordered that restitutic®. he made. An application for the suppression of the name was granted.
