BELLS FROM GUNS

It is an old expedient in time of war to use- church hells for munitions, but it is rarer for bells thus utilised to be replaced by others cast in their turn from guns. A foundry at Aalborg, North Jutland, has received an order fo-r 44 bells to be installed in churches in South Jutland. During tho war a large number of bells was removed from these churches by the German authorities and melted down for the making of munitions, and the new bells have been cast from the metal of 60 old brass canons supplied to the foundry by tho Copenhagen arsenal.
