CAPTAIN HOBSON’S GRAVE OBELISK TO BE ERECTED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND,. April 9. The grave of Captain William Hobson, R.N., the first Governor of Netv Zealand, who died on September 10th, 1842, and' was .buried in Symonds street cemetery, is to be marked by a snitable memorial. The grave is marked by an ordinary headstone and the Department of Internal Affairs has decided to call tenders for the erection at the grave of an obelisk. The monument will form a much more fitting memorial to a man who holds an honoured position in the history of New Zealand.
