GRAVE NEGLECTED

LORD FRENCH OF YPRE3 NO STONE ERECTED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association LONDON, March 23. The “Daily Chronicle” says that in tho quiet village churchyard at Ripple, in Kent, is an insignificant grass-cov-eied mound surmounted by a few withered leafless twigs. This sadly-neglected spot is no other than the grave of Lord French of Ypres, Commander of “The Old Contemptibles.” The paper points out that hundreds visit the churchyard every week, but are unable to find the grave without the aid of the sexton, and recalls that the funeral was attended by great crowds of civilians and military personages. Now a few feet of turf, sinking at the end, is the only Indication of the resting-place of one of warriors.
