CUSTOMS DUTY IN CANADA PREVENTION OF DUMPING. Reuter’s Telegram. . (Received March 14, 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA; March 12. Hon. J. Boivin, Minister for Customs and Excise, announced to-day : “The shipments of butter from Australia within the last few days have been accepted upon tho payment of a duty of four cents per pound. This duty represents one cent per pound under the Australian treaty and a further duty of three cents under the dumping clause. ’ Tho Minister stated that tho extra duty under tho dumping clau6o was being levied pending the to determine whether the homo consumption and the price of butter in Australia was in excess of the fivo per cent, over the price of the Australian butter sold in Canada.
