LONDON’S MEAT SUPPLY
PRODUCERS’ BOARD REPORT FIGURES FOR MONTHS. The New Zealand Meat Producers* Board has been advised by its London manager that the supply of meat and like produce to the London central markets during the eleven months ended November aggregated 421,740 tons, as against 437,512 tons same period last year, a decrease of 15,772 tons or 3.6 per cent. Imported supplies, apart from produce originating in Ireland, formed 80.9 per cent, of the total quantity of produce marketed. British and Irish supplies aggregated 80,049 tons, or 19.1 per cent, of the total, supply—New Zealand and Australia 80,703 tons or 19.1 per cent, Argentina 195,129 tons or 46.3 per cent., Netherlands and other foreign countries 65,359 tons or 15.5 per cent. Beef and vea1.—232,075 tons, 86.1 per cent, imported. Argentina leading with 169,256 tons or 72.9 per cent, Britain and Ireland 32,351 tons or 13.9 per cent., New Zealand and Australia 13,098 tons or 5.7 per cent., and other countries 17,370 tons or 7.5 per cent. Mutton and 1amb—119,094 tons, SO.l per cent, imported. New Zealand and Australia leading with 63,905 tons or 53.6 per cent., Argentina 25,329 tons or 21.3 per cent., Britain and Ireland 23,668 tons or 19.9 per cent., and other countries 6192 tons or 5.2 r>er cent. P0rk—44,148 tons, 74.7 per cent imported. Netherlands leading with 29,808 tons or 67.5 per cent., and Britain and Ireland ll,Tco tons or 25.3 per cent., and other countries 3160 tons or 7.2 per cent. The analysis' of supplie for the first eleven months of the year and comparison with similar period of 1924 in parentheses arc : Beef and veal —Britain and Ireland, 32,351 tons (41,320); New Zealand and Australia, 13,098 (.7141); Canada and C.S.A., 6497 (3021); Argentina, 169.256 (182,720); Netherlands, 10,87$ (8389). Totals, 232,075 (242,891). Mutton and Lamb —Britain and Ireland, 23,668 tons (21,212); New Zealand and Australia, 63,905 (73,928); Canada and U.S.A., 105 (115); Argentina. 25,329* (23,754); Netherlands, 6087 (5401). Totals, 119,094 (124,440). Pork —Britain and Ireland. 11.180 tons (16,558); New Zealand and Australia, 73 (28); Canada and U.&.A., 2868 (3567); Argentina, 219 (386); Netherlands, 29,803 (23,336). Totals, 44,148 (43,973). The Customs revenue received' at the port of Wellington yesterday aggregated x 10,891.
