CRICKET CUP MATCH
PRESS DEFEAT STAGE GAME ON KELBURN PARK. The opening match of the series between representatives of the Stage and the Press,- for tfre Hodgson Cup, was played at Keiburn westerday afternoon, when, after an enjoyable oneinnings game, the Press gained the day by a margin of 47 runs. The Stage, who were represented by a number of the leading male members of the “Leave It To Jane” Company, put a solid eleven in the field. Neville Towne, who captained the side, showed great form with the ball, capturing seven wickets for 55 runs. . Percy Le Fre, who secured the remaining three wickets, maintained his stage athletic reputation by taking a couple of brilliant one-handed cafches oft his own bowling. For the Press, Fitzmaurice and Greig both batted nicely for 19, while with the ball Fitzmaurice bagged six wickets for 26 runs, and Jeffs three for 28. The details are: PRESS.—First Innings.
