The geological survey expedition, which spent nine months in searching for oil >n Nev Guinea, has returned to Sydney. The leader states that they explored an area of 1000 square miles in the Aitape district, 18 miles from the Dutch border. A good deal of the country had never before been penetrated by whites, but the natives were friendly. of oil surpassed expectations, and conclusively proved the presence of petroleum. Another expedition will be sent to begin boring operations, which the geological survey has justified.
