There was fierce fighting on Tuesday morning at Damascus between the French forces and the Druses, who penetrated the city on Monday night. The Druses launched an attack on Damascus on Monday morning, but were beaten off. Many were killed on both sides. The Druses returned in the evening, and forced a way into the Shagur quarter, where a fierce battle has been raging since. The French again bombarded Damascus, and artillery, machine-guns and airplanes have greatly damaged the Shagur and Salchve quarters. (Sydney “Sun” Cable.) BEIRUT, December 15. The rebels on Saturday cut the Beirut-Damascus railway, isolating Damascus. On Sunday nearly 1000 Druse refugees entered Palestine. They were disarmed on crossing the frontier.
