RED CROSS MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Wellington executive of the New Zealand Red Cross was held yesterday afternoon in the rooms in Dixon street. Mr Burnett presided, and there were present: Mesdames Adams, L. Blundell, Rose, Clark (Waipukurau), Miss Lowe, Mr Rose, Mr Wright, hon. treasurer, and Mr Galloway, secretary. Apologies were received from Mrs M. Myers and the Hon. Dr. Collins. Mrs .Hall wroto tendering liar resignation!, as she was leaving shortly for England. This was accepted with regret. Replies were received from the representative at Puteora Sanatorium and the Women’s Committee. Sister Webster’s report had not come to hand. It was reported that the Red Cross equipment at Pukeora was Valued at £558, the Red Cross Club £1250,, and ■the carpenter’s shop £750. This' was the .property of the New Zealand executive. There were 42 soldier patientq at Puteora, 16 out-patients, and 59 civilian patients. "At Napier there were eleven, and New Plymouth eight soldier patients. The women’s committee has made up packets to be sent to these for Christmas.
It was reported that the Health Department had paid half the cost of the picture machine- account for the Red Cross Hospital, and allowed £250 to the -Picture Supplies account. The sum of £5 was voted .for services rendered in connection with, pictures at the Red Cross Homo.
Mr Galloway reported that the Red Cross Rooms would -be eloped from December 22nd to January 7th. Accounts to the amount of £270 were passed* for payment.
