Mrs Albert Bussell has returned to Wellington from a trip to Auckland and Rotorua. Mra Clark, who came to Wellington to attend the Red Cross meeting yesterday, leaves for, Marton this morning. A very pretty wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church, Timaru, on Weduesday afternoon, when, Jean., elder daughter, pf Mr and Mrs H. W. Hay, Sealy street, was married by the Rev. G. V. Gerard, to Maurice, eldest, son of Mr and Mrs F. M. Warren, ' “Waipuna,” Riccarton. The church was decorated with apricot. and cream roses and greenery, and the altar With arum lilies. : A very pretty wedding was celebrated, at Holy Trinity Church, Merriwa, New South Wales, by Rev. D. T. Rees, on October 7th, when Mias Eunice Black, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs James Black, of “Dunkeld,” Merriwa, was married to Mr Archie Graham, son of Mrs Annie Graham and the late James Graham, of New Zealand.

A picturesque wedding was celebrated on Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church,. Balls, when Miss Daisy Armour, third daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Armour, of Auckland, late of Whangaripo, was, married to Mr Wil'liain E., Gibbs, son of Mbs Isaac Gibbs, of Marton. The service was fully choral, and the Rev. d. Ireland officiated. The bride, who was given away by her cousin,, Mr James Brass, wore a frock of mauve silk marocain embroidered in seed pearls. Her handsome veil, which is an heirloom in the family, was of silk net, hand-embroid-ered in a design of Scotch .thistles. She carried an fvory prayer book. The bridesmaid, Miss E. Gibbs,' wore a dress of grey figured marocain and a black picture hat wreathed’with roses. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and maidenhair fern. The duties of beet man were carried out’ by Mr G. M. Haar.

Lady Alice Fergusson has accepted the position of Dominion president of the yGirls’ Friendly Society. Mr and Mrs W. Perry (Masterton) are visiting in the south. The Misses Martin Kennedy, who have been staying at the Royal Oak, left by the Aorangi from Auckland for Sydney, en route to England. Miss Irene Mulvany Gray, of Christchurch, left Wellington yesterday, en route for San Francisco. She will spend several months in America before returning to New Zealand. The Red Cross have issued invitations to. the annual distribution of certificates, which will be held in the Dominion Farmers’ Institute . ■ No efforts have been spared to make the coming Red . Cross Fair a great success, and the stalls will be exceptionally well; provided with good a. The work'of the society in peace time is so well known that it is anticipated that generous support will he given by the public to the. effort.' The bazaar will he opened this afternoon at the Red Cross Headquarters, at Dixon street, by the Mayoress (Mrs Norwood! at half-past two.. The Red Cross Guild has been w'brking hard for some time, and there will be a great many articles far sale suitable for Christmas presents, and it is anticipated' there will ,be a ready sale for these. The Wedding was solemnised at St. Many’s of the Angels, Boulcott street, of Miss Doris Annie Hoy, only child of Mr and Mrs Hoy, of Wellington, and Mr Edward Saunders, of Grcymouth. The Rev. Father Murphy officiated. The bride’s frock was of ivory crepe-de-chine, with an apron of cobweb silver lace, and an ornament of silver beads'and pearls. The veil was arranged in cap fashion, and held in place with pearfs and orange blossoms. The bridal bouquet was, of cream and pale pink roses and maidenhair fern. The chief, bridesmaid was Miss Cissie Hoy, of Wanganui, who wore a frock, of .blue marocain, shoes, stockings, and veil to match. The veil wa§ arranged over the head and tied like a how; her bouquet was. of pink roses and carnations with coloured streamers. -The other bridesmaid was Misa Mirian Saunders, who ware a frock of’mauve figured taffeta, with a silver cobweb lace apron, also mauve veil; her bouquet was of pink roses and carnations with coloured streamers. The best man was Mr Tom Saunters, and the groomsman Mr. Walter" Tasker. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom . was a pair of military brushes. The bridegroom’s to the bride was a cheque, and to the bridesmaids a gold armlet and a set of ebony brushes. After the ceremony a. reception was held in the Adolph i Cabaret, Cuba street. About a hundred guests were entertained. Later •in the evening Mr and ' Mrs Saunders left for the South Island. The bride wore a fawn - tunic marocain frock with jazz braid and hat to match.

. Mr and Mrs D. H. Todd, of Wellington, are staying in Christchurch. Sir Donald and Lady McGavin returned to Wellington yesterday from a visit to England and America. After a short holiday in Christchurch Mr and Mrs Harold B*own, of Wellington, have left for Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Winter Hall, who are renewing many acquaintances during their return visit to Christchurch, were the guests of honour at a very delightful “At Home.” held by Mrs'Burnes Loughnan, at her hqme in Avonside. A pianoforte solo was given by Mrs Winter Hall, who before her marriage was Miss Katie . Young, a gifted Christchurch musician, and songs were contributed by Miss Lulu Hannay, Dr. Stanley Faster, and Mr Winter Hall. A violin solo by Miss Gladys Vincent was also much appreciated. Lady Alice Fergusson was the guest of the Southland Women’s Club at Invercargill yesterday evening. Mrs Mazengarb, of Wellington, is visiting Invercargill. ' , Mr : and Mrs Hayes and Miss Jutt are Wellington visitors to Christchurch. ' t Mrs J. T. Nicoll (Lower Hutt) Is the guest of Mrs J. S. Connett in New Mrs S. W. Fitzherbert, who has been visiting relatives in Palmerston North, has-now returned to Wellington. Mrs Reeves, who .has been living in the country for the past twelve months, is on a short visit to Wellington. .

Mr and Mrs J. Mac Gibbon, of Wellington, are at present the guests of the Misses Mac Gibbon, East Gore.

Mr and Mrs Pennvthorpe and their, small daughter left -'Napier last week for Wellington, en route to England. Miss Tankard has returned to Napier from Wellington. . Mrs 'W. R. Woolley (Epsom), and Mr and Mrs C. I. B. Beckett , (To Araroa) have been travelling together abroad since July. They w'ere in Scotland for three weeks, and then spent a little time in the English Lake . District. During September they toured on the Continent, visiting Franoe, Switzerland and Belgium. Since'{hen they have, been in Cornwall and Devon,. ana now intend to remain in London until they sail by the Maloja on December 18th, says a correspondent. .1 A wedding was solemnised at the Methodist , Church, Featherston, on Thursday, the contracting parties being Miss Gertrude Evelyn, daughter of Mr .and Mrs Thos. Burt, Featherston, and Mr Athol Scott, son of Mr and Mrs Moore; of Blenheim. Miss Winifred Lockett, of LoWer Hutt, was bridesmaid, and Mr Chadwick, of' Palmerston North, was best man.

The committee of the Mothers Help- 1 ers held their meeting last Monday in the Navy League’s'"new premises on Lambton Quay. Mrs Phillips-Tur-ner presided; others present .being: Mesdames Arthur, Darling, Tripp and Weston. In the unavoidable absence of the treasurer (Mrs Coleridge), the secretary reported that the finances are in a very satisfactory , condition. The useful, nature ul the work is becoming so widely 'known that lately there have been applications from several outlying districts which unfortunately cannot be supplied. Many letters have' been received lately from grateful mothers, which are most gratifying to the committee who work to lighten the burden ■of others.

A very pretty wedding was celebrated on Wednesday, December 2nd, at St. Andrew’s Church, Wanganui, when Margaret Cousin, only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. P. Elliot,. Halswell street, Wanganui, was’ married to Stanley, youngest sen of the late Mr and Mrs Annahell, Wanganui. The Rev. Beggs officiated. The bride, who Was given. in marriage by her father, wore a simple gown of 'Cream lace over crepe-de-chine, with flowered ribbon streamers caught nt one side. Her veil, lent by Mrs Payne, of New Plymouth, was arranged with a hand, of flowers. The maid-of-honour, Miss Ethel McDonald, wore a salmon silk crepe georgette. lrock with .transparent georgette hat, I and lavender bouquet and streamers. . The bridesmaid, Misß Elsie Hutchins, wore a lavender georgette frock with transparent hat and pink , bouquet and streamers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Frank Goodey, best man, and Mr Walter Ford, groomsman. As the bridal party left the church, little Sybil Liddel presented the bride with a silver horse-shoe. About 120 guests were present at' the wedding breakfast, and were received by Mr and Mrs Elliot, Mrs Elliot wearing a gown of + i\ra marocain, with grey Oriental trim ming and small. hat to tone.
