TRACK NOTES

WORK AT WANGANUI (“Times” Gbrrespondent.) WANGANUI, December 8. _ Deluge has been very nicely handi-. capped in the Railway Handicap at Ellerslie, and with 8.4 the Bon of Absurd would have a “royal chance if he could be got to the post fit and well. Unfortunately, the ohestnut has been sore for; some time past and M. Rayner has not been able to give him much work. This morning Deluge waß given a three furlongs sprint with Adavale, and he covered the distance very comfortably in 37£sec, a time which he could have improved upon easily had he been extended. However, he appeared very sore behind after the gallop, and it seems very doubtful whether Rayner will be able to race him at EUerslie. v

Motley-is in great heart at present and promises to ; be Capable of one of her most brilliant efforts at Christina? time. With 7.10 she reads as weU as anything else in the Railway Uandicap at Auckland, duo her mission willbe the Palmerston North Stakes in which she will probably be a warm favourite. She was given a round this morning and finished up over the last three furlongs at three-quarter pace, moving very sweetly. . The Thorn and Mast were again given a couple of rounds on the plough sprinting over the last couple' of furlongs. The Thorn showed to better advantage than the son of Limond, who got knocked about at Feilding and has not yet freshened up again. Kiosk and Elthein were companions in a three-furlong sprint, both hitting out nicely and without being extended. They - covered the distance m 37sec. ... W. Dyer has an addition to his string in' the shape of a three-year-iold gelding by Day Comet out of Fiz. He is a big upstanding sort. Attractive and Horomea were given a run over six furiongs which they covered very comfortably in lmin 20sec without trying to make time. Lysander was given useful work. This colt has muscled up and _ should strip in great fettle at Ellerslie. F. Lind left tor Woodville to-day with Pardoto And Elsyianor. Gaillard and Ora’s Delight are be-

ing kept going _in view of: Taranaki Christmas meetings. . ~ , . Santiago has been nominated fbr the Awapuni hurdle events, ana also figures in the Christmas Handicap at the Taranaki meeting. It was\ intended that the, gelding should race at Ellerslie, but the nominations for hurdle events there were received too late, OTAKI JOTTINGS . Imperial Spark, who was recently iniured in a shunting accident at Palmerston North is still suffering from the effects, and in consequence .will not be raced till Christmas time (writes the “Times” correspondent). Dug Webster will take First Acre, Moutoa Lady and Sole Mio to Wopdville. Frank Higgottwill take a string of six, while Mat 'Williams will take Bonnie Gold and Touchwood. This will bo Bonnie Gold’s first appearance after his long spell. t
