WATERSIDERS’ DISPUTE

REASON OF DEADLOCK independent chairman WANTED. Per Press Assooiation. Christchurch, November s One of the demands of the watereiders in regard to the unloading of phosphates from the Wongnnella is a proposal that' an independent chairman be elected to preside over the mooting of the local disputes committee. The waterside™ proposed that the Rev., J. IC. Archer or Mr J. McCombs should act, but the employers opposed the suggestion and for that reason a deadlock occurred yesterday. This morning advice was received that the national disputes committee, to whom the question of an independent chairman had been referred, has in turn referred the matter to the Arbitration Court who will elect a chairman.
