LABOUR LEADER AT HOME
ADDRESSES ON WEST COAST. Per Preen Association, WESTPORT, November 2. Mr H. Holland, Leader of the Lahour Party, addressed a series of overflowing meetings at the mining townships during the week-end. At Burnett’s Face he wan met by a band. At all the meetings the most intense enthusiasm prevailed, and he was accorded remarkable ovations and unanimous votes of confidence in himself and the Labour Party. In reply to a question asked on behalf , of the Public Service Association, Mr Holland said that the Labour Party, in office, would make one of its first acts the restoration of the salaries of public servants, especially in the lower grades, to the pre-war standard, measured in purchasing power. THE LABOUR CANDIDATES The Labour Party in Wellington will conclude its campaign to-night with* a great rally in the Town Hall, commencing at 8 o’clock. Mr J. Thorn, secretary of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee, will preside. The following . will speak:—Messrs R. McKeen, A. L. Monteith, P. Fraser, C. H. Chapman, and H. E. Combs. Mrs T. M. Gault will move a motio:* of confidence in the Labonr Party, which Mr M. Walsh will second. This will be supported by short addresses by Mr J. Roberts and Mr W. Atkinson. The Labonr Party cordially invites the citizens of Wellington to attend this meeting. As it is anticipated that the hall will he crowded those desiring seats are urged to attend early. The doers will open at 8, and sympathisers are invited, to contribute to a collection, which will be taken at the dbor in order to meet expenses. MR'W. NASH IN THE HUTT. Mr W. Nash will address the concluding meeting of his campaign for the Hutt seat in the Town Hall, Lower Hutt, tonight, at 8. The Mayor, Mr Strand, will preside. 4 Mr Nash heartily invites the electors in the Hutt to attend this meetfir Ohampman (Suburbs) will address a meeting to-niglit at 7.30 in the/ Kbandallah Publio Hall. Mr H. E. 1 Combs (North) speaks in St. Michael's Schoolroom, Kelburn, to-night, at 8. Mr R. Semple (Otaki) speaks to-night at Paekakariki • at 8. Mr R. McKeen (South) speaks at Green street, Newtown, at 9.30 to-night. MR WRICHTATKHANDALLAH Mr Wright addressed'a large and enthusiastic meeting at Khandallah last night in the Town Hall, Mr C. C. Crump wae voted to the chair, and in introducing the candidate referred to the good work lie had done during the time he had in Parliament. Mr Wright, who was received with applause, addressed the meeting for nearte two hours, and on the motion of Mr Wallis, seconded by .Mr Hare, a hearty vote of thanks and confidence was passed.
