SHEEPSKINS, HIDES, AND TALLOW
YESTERDAY'S SALE. The usual fortnightly sale of sheep* skins,- hides and tallow was held yesterday, when a larger catalogue than usual was offered to a good attendance of buyers. Sheepskins were in very good demand, and in sympathy with the London market, showed an adrunce. Dry skins wore fully 4d to $d better than last sale, while saltcds advanced from 3d to 6d each, with the exception of salted pelts, which were about 6d lower.' Hides were again keenly sought after, and taken nil round, were practically on a par with lapfc sale. Tallow : As was expected from the weakness of the London market, this also declined here, prices being fully 2s to 3s perewt. easier than last sale. The following gives the range of prices realised:— Sheepskins—Halfbred to 14tl, fine crossbred 13d to 14d, medium-coarse crossbred lid to 12jd, short to half-wools 7d to Hid, lambs’ lid to 14d, dencl and damaged crossbred BJd to lid, inferior and badly damaged 4d to 8?d, pelts 6d to 8; t VI, damp, salted and green 6s to 12s 3d; pelts, salted 2s 7cl to 3s; lambs’, salted 2s 8d to Bs. Hides—Ox, extra heavy 7fd to 8d; ox, heavy, 7fld to B|d; cow, heavy, to 6s]rl; cow, medium, 6jd to Old; cow, light, G\d to Cfid; cut, slippy ami inferior, 3:jd to fj{d; bull, stag 2d to sd; yearlings, 7d to 8LI: yearlings, heavy, 7(1 to 7fcd; coif, medimn-good, llAd to 12Jd; calf, dam/igcd, 4id to 92d. Tallow —In casks, 29s to 34s 6d; in tins, etc., 16s to 30s. Sundries—Horsehair, IBid to 21|d.
