A FAMOUS BAND
ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND PIPERS On hoard the liner Rotorua, which is due at Wellington this morning from Home, is the band of the famous Second Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, which is on its way to Dunedin, being under contract to the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition. The party contains 44 members including the best musicians in England, and practically all of them have seen war service. They are to be given a Caledonian welcome while the Rotorua is in the stream, those taking part being Captain R. H. Nimmo, chief; Dr. McCrae, director of the Caledonian Society ; Pipe-Major McDonald and DrumMajor Comrie Smith, while Mr L B. Smith, chairman of the local Wellington-Nelson court committee, and Mr Roy S. Johnston, secretary, will also welcome them. In the evening the local band will escort the visiting band to the Lyttelton ferry steamer and it is hoped that the Scots of Wellington will turn out in foroe to give the visitors a proverbial Caledonian welcome.
