ST. HELENS HOSPITAL
BOARD’S COMMITMENTS.
Mr C- M. Luke presided at the meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board yesterday. With referonoe to a letter from the acting Director-General of Health regarding St. Helen’s . Hospital, Coromandel street, Wellington, the finance and policy oommittee recommended that a reply he sent stating that the board had undertaken s< much m the way of capital expenditure, and bad so many commitments, it was unable at the present juncture, to make any arrangements in regard to the proposal to take over this institution from the Government. The finance committee recommends that application lie made to the Department of Health for particulars and information in regard to the superanimation of nurses and hospital board employees.—Agreed. Mr E. Vine moveH:—“That except in cases where the old age pension is applied to the cost of permanent maintenance in Victoria ward or the Ohiro Home, the maintenance fees of old age pensioners’ patients be remitted. He submitted that the pensioners deserved sympathy. Mr Castle seconded, but an amendment to refer the motion to the finance and policy committee was carried.
