GULL’S TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT
In the Teeords of aviation, the feat ol the first gull to fly the Atlantic Ocean ie an honourable one. and worthy of record. The gull, a kittiwake, was found in Newfoundland wearing a silver band upon which were inscribed the words: "Inform Witherby, High Hclborn, LonThe bird has been identified as one that had been released from the:coast of Northumberland by a correspondent of the London "Naturalist. It is quite likely that this gull was forestalled in his great achievement by other galls It is a pity to have to record that th< bird was shot.
