ALLEGED ARSON

ACCUSED REMANDED. A young school-teacher named Leonard Arthur Hockley Redder was charged at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday with wilfully setting fire to the Terrace school. Chief Detective Kemp asked for a remand for one week, and this was granted. Mr W. E. Leicester (who appeared for the accused): am instructed that there is an answer to the charge and I apply for bail. This was fixed at. one surety of £l6O or two of £75. • . Mr Leicester then made an application for the suppression of the name. The Magistrate (Mr T. E. Maunsell): If I suppress this, name it may bring others under suspicion, as there are other teachers at (he school. It was pointed out. however, that the name had already bon published and the matter lapsed.
