RUSSIA WITH TURKEY
IN THE DISPUTE OVER MOSUL “OIL DIPLOMACY” ALSO ACTIVE BRITAIN GRAVELY CONCERNED B.v Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Received September 22, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, September 21. The “Daily Telegraph's’’ diplomatic correspondent says that official comments in London 'upon the Mosul crisis do not attempt to minimise its gravity, if Turks yield to chauvinistic impulse or the incitements of certain foreign elements, such as Moscow, which is pompously offering the Soviet fleet in the Black Sea as a means of defending Constantinople. There is also “oil diplomacy,” which
is most active in the lobbies of the League. Britain has assured Ameiica, Italy and France that they will have a liberal shore of the Mosul oilfields, but the shares are deemed inadequate in certain quarters, and efforts are on toot to stiffen Turkey’s resistance, in the hope that the coveted oil concessions will be securable by private treaty with the Angora Government.
