BRITISH POLICY IN EUROPE REPORT TO GOVERNMENT. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. LONDON, July 26, The “Dai,ly Express’’ states that the Committee of Imperial Defence has completed its report on the British military - policy in Egypt, which' was referred to it by Mr Ramsay MacDonald when he was Prime Minister. The report stresses the vital strategic importance of the Suez Canal, and recommends that whatever our political relations are with Egypt, an adequate force of British troogs should be maintained on- the oanal hanks, and naval "patrols on the canal. In order to protect these troops and patrols from possible aggression from the land, a British force must be continuously maintained at Cairo. It therefore recommends that the number of troops there now, 12,000, should not he reduced. The “Daily Express” adds that Cabinet has accepted the report to. form 'the basis .of the ' British policy in I Egypt.
